Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against bottom of the table side Burnley in the English Premier League. The Red Devils have now dropped to the fifth position in the league table.

The home team started in a 4-4-2 formation, with new signing, Wout Weghorst, leading the front line along with the veteran, Jay Rodriguez. Maxwell Cornet and Dwight McNeil provided width to Burnley’s attack.
From the average positions of the starting XI, we can observe that Dwight McNeil slipped into the midfield, and Sean Dyche’s men played in a 4-3-3 formation.
Ralf Rangnick’s men started in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Edinson Cavani replacing Cristiano Ronaldo in the attack. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho featured on the wings.
Scott McTominay slipped between the two centre-backs and allowed Paul Pogba to play in a more attacking role. Cavani dropped a lot into the midfield and allowed the wide players to go forward.

Burnley, on the other hand, made more interceptions and clearances than the away team. The duels win percentage was better for Rangnick’s men.
Bruno Fernandes attempted the highest number of shots for the away team. The Portuguese international attempted five shots, made five recoveries inside the opposition’s half and attempted 11 passes into the opposition’s final third. Josh Brownhill made the highest number of recoveries inside the opposition’s half from the Burnley midfield.
The home team attempted seven shots, and three of them were on target. Only two shots were attempted from inside the opposition’s penalty box, and one of them was converted into a goal.
Manchester United players attempted 22 shots with a 22.73% shot accuracy rate. 13 shots out of the 22, were attempted from inside the opposition’s penalty box. Only a single shot was attempted from inside the opposition’s 6-yard box.

Dwight McNeil once again created the highest threat rate from dribbles. The midfielder attempted six dribbles for Burnley. Wout Weghorst attempted seven dribbles and created a threat rate of 0.014.
The away team also created most of the threats from the wider sides. Luke Shaw created the highest threat rate, followed by Bruno Fernandes.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho attempted eight dribbles each for the away team. Sancho created the highest threats from dribbles.
The home team won most of their defensive duels towards the right side. Dwight McNeil contested the highest number of duels for his side.
Burnley players won five aerial duels in the middle. Ben Mee contested seven duels and won five of them.
Once again, Burnley players won most of their duels in the middle of the park. Josh Brownhill and Wout Weghorst contested 13 duels each for their side.

Manchester United failed to capitalize on most of their chances and failed to convert most of the shots. Ralf Rangnick’s men created a lot of threats, but Burnley defended well to take a point from their opponents.
