Premier League Stats: Manchester United vs Brighton

Ralf Rangnick made two changes to the starting XI from their previous league fixture. Fred and Anthony Elanga replaced Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford in the team.

The Red Devils played in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line. Alex Telles was introduced by the manager towards the end of the match to provide additional defensive support to Luke Shaw.

By looking at the average position of the starting XI, we can observe that Brighton played in a 4-3-3 formation. Yves Bissouma played in front of the defenders, and Pascal Groß featured on the right side.

Brighton had more possession of the ball and dominated possession in the first half. The home team attempted more positional attacks and were awarded ten corners in the match. The Seagulls were reduced to ten men after Lewis Dunk was sent off in the 54th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo attempted the most shots in the match. His teammate, Bruno Fernandes, attempted four shots and had the highest xG rate in the match. Bruno Fernandes was active on set-piece duties and created the biggest threats with corners. The Red Devils won most of their throw-ins on the left side.

Brighton were just awarded two corners in the match, both from the left side. They were awarded eight throw-ins inside the final third and from the right side of the play.

Manchester United players attempted more shots and created more threats towards the opposition goal. Brighton were playing with ten men in the last phase of the match and were unable to trouble David de Gea in the Manchester United goal.
